Yesterday we decided to make the most of this unseasonably warm, sunny weather and travel a couple of hours up-island to our favourite summer camping ground on Buttle Lake (near Gold River). At this time of year, we shouldn't be able to access this area because of the snow, but as you can see, it was stunningly beautiful - at once making me feel insignificant and humble, whilst also putting everything into perspective.
We stopped off at a number of the viewpoints along the lake (it takes half an hour to drive it's length) and took oodles of photographs. Then picnicked and slept in the sun, before winding our way home (quite literally - the road is tortuous!).
This was just what we needed - not just food, but a feast for the soul! Then, it was equally wonderful to see that the photos we took actually do the scenery justice!
